Pip Utton - a double bill - King Lear/Bacon

One of the world’s leading solo performers, having toured his work in more than 30 countries receiving rave reviews and awards, recently winning two international awards for his outstanding contribution to the genre of monodrama worldwide, Pip Utton brings two plays in one night to Frome.

King Lear
Lear is mad; mad at the weather, mad at the world and he is mad at his daughters. But, on top of all this anger, he is also mad. Shakespeare’s 3hr masterpiece reduced to 55 mins.

Bacon
Described by critics as the greatest British painter since Turner, and by Margaret Thatcher as ‘that dreadful man who paints those horrible pictures’, Bacon remains one of the most challenging and controversial artists ever, plus his lifestyle of alcohol, gambling and homosexual promiscuity has created an iconic enigma.
