Alternative Basketmaking with Foraged Materials

Discover the Art of Nature-Inspired Basketmaking!
Join artist Molly Schoenhoff and naturalist Jenny Richards for a unique, hands-on workshop at Shawnee State Park.

Morning Nature Walk & Material Gathering
Start the day with a guided hike led by Jenny Richards. You'll explore the rich textures and forms found in nature and gather materials to use in baskets.

Afternoon Basketmaking Workshop
Under Molly Schoenhoff's guidance, learn alternative basketry techniques and try your hand at backstrap loom weaving. Let the materials you gathered and the scenery around you inspire your creation.

Cost: $30
Limitations: Participants need to have enough stamina to hike for one hour. There is no age limit, but all participants should have an attention span of at least two hours. Minors under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by a supervising adult.

A basic picnic lunch will be provided.
