Come out to support Grace and her family in their quest for an accessible vehicle. Our goal is to fill at least 20 tables of 10. Bring extra money for extra game cards that can be purchased at the event. The bar will be open for food and drinks to purchase.
Last July, Grace experienced a spinal stroke at just 12 years old, leaving her paraplegic. Her life—and the life of her family—changed in an instant. The adjustment has been overwhelming, and it’s hard to imagine how challenging it must be for a young girl to adapt so suddenly to a completely new reality.
As the family continues to navigate these challenges, we are reaching out to our community for support.
One of their biggest obstacles is transportation. Their current vehicle makes it extremely difficult—and unsafe—to get Grace and her medical equipment in and out. A handicap-accessible van would make a world of difference, especially one with a rear-opening ramp to allow for safer, easier access.
Despite extensive searching, the family has been unable to find agencies that can assist with obtaining an accessible vehicle. Grace was also denied disability benefits, which was both surprising and deeply disheartening.
This journey has been a real eye-opener. A suitable vehicle would provide Grace with a greater sense of independence and normalcy—allowing her to travel safely, attend medical appointments, and enjoy everyday outings with her family. Accessible vehicles are expensive, and this goal feels overwhelming—but with the support of our community, we hope it can become a reality.
