Peatland Puppet Making Workshop with Oli D'Cruz

In this workshop, Limbo-contributor Oli D'Cruz ( https://oliviadcruz.nl/) will lead us into the Geestlanden - or Spirit lands - of Noord Holland, a sandy coastland seen as 'infertile' before peat and soil was imported to propagate flower bulbs. Reflecting on the colonial notion of an 'infertile' landscape, we will use found materials from around De Proef to create our own spiritted marionnete puppets. Or should that be peat-pet? A pup-peat? Come and find out!

This workshop accompanies the exhibition 'Limbo: a collective exhibition on peatlands as terrains in flux', initiated by RE-PEAT and co-curated by Corinna Studier and Laisa Cordes. Before the workshop, you can check out the exhibition, attend De Proef's annual Christmas market and get stuck in with the other great activities that we'll be hosting - including a free lino-printing workshop!

Tijdens deze workshop leer je hoe je je eigen veen-geïnspireerde marionet kan maken!

Tijdens deze workshop neemt Limbo-kunstenaar Oli D'Cruz ( https://oliviadcruz.nl/) ons mee naar de Geestlanden van Noord-Holland. Deze zandige kustlanden werden vroeger als ‘onvruchtbaar’ beschouwd, totdat er turf werd geïmporteerd om bloembollen op te kunnen telen. Wat zijn de parallelen tussen koloniaal gedachtegoed en het bestempelen van landschappen als “onvruchtbaar”? Deze vraag nemen we mee terwijl we van gevonden materialen uit de omgeving marionetten maken en tot leven laten komen. Kom langs!

Deze workshop is deel van de randprogrammering bij ‘Limbo: a collective exhibition on peatlands as terrains in flux’, een RE-PEAT tentoonstelling, gecureerd in samenwerking met Corinna Studier en Laisa Cordes. Voorafgaand aan de workshop is er de mogelijkheid om de tentoonstelling bezoeken, de jaarlijkse kerstmarkt van De Proef bijwonen of om mee te doen aan een gratis linosnede-workshop. 

De workshop zal tweetaling zijn met Engels en Nederlands als voertalen.
