The Bignami Veltri Jazz Ensemble will hold an open rehearsal as they prepare to record their album "Non-Places." The session offers an opportunity to observe the working process of a professional jazz ensemble.
Composers Anna Bignami and Laura Veltri will direct their nine-piece ensemble through material that explores Marc Augé's concept of "non-places" - the transient, anonymous spaces of modern life such as airports, shopping centres, and motorways.
The rehearsal provides insight into how jazz musicians approach both composed material and improvisation. Attendees will observe the ensemble's preparation process, including discussions between musicians and the development of musical ideas in real time.
Attendees are welcome to come and go as they please, or participate for just a portion of the rehearsal. The event is suitable for all ages, including children interested in observing professional musicians at work. Various brass, woodwind, and rhythm section instruments will be featured.
