Park Bench Dedication Ceremony

We hope you will join us next month on November 23 at 1 p.m. as dedicate our community's newest park bench in honor of Catherine Ann Houchins.

Catherine Ann, who passed away earlier this year, was a longtime member of Frankford First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Catherine was a volunteer extraordinaire — there is hardly a church program or ministry in the past 50-plus years that she was not a part of and helping lead.

This includes volunteering with our church's recycling program as part of our Green Chalice team. She along with a handful of other volunteers met each Saturday or Sunday afternoon to sort, weigh and bag more than 1,600 pounds of recyclable plastic bags.

Catherine had long suggested a park bench be placed on the patio area outside of the fellowship hall. Last week, the Church Board voted to honor Catherine and to place a bench there for Frankford FCC members and friends to enjoy for years to come.
