Wunderkammer Company is proud to present "Madeline Miller: The Unplanned After" the artist's first solo exhibition which explores the raw journey of healing after a suicide attempt in 2023.
Through abstract expressionism, action-based painting, photography, and performance art the artist's body is used as the paintbrush to convey visceral pain, quiet suffering, and raw strength, while additionally highlighting the dark comedy within it all.The works capture the unspoken aftermath of trauma, blending movement and energy to reveal the fragile beauty of survival.
Madeline Miller is a painter, visual artist, and performance artist whose work explores the intersection of raw emotion and artistic expression. A performing artist with Kitchen Sink Theatre and a former company member at the Fort Wayne Dance Collective, Madeline began painting after a suicide attempt in 2023 as a way to connect with and process her emotions. Her art, which merges abstract expressionism and action-based painting, is created using her body as the brush to channel the visceral energy of her experiences.
Beyond canvas, she paints on her skin, experiments with fabric and mixed media, and creates pieces that give voice to the trauma she often struggles to articulate. As a performance artist, Madeline uses humor and extravagant, gritty characters to address deep, challenging themes, inviting audiences to confront difficult topics in unexpected ways. Additionally, she is a Playworker studying with Pop-Up Adventure Play in the UK, where the concept of play influences her creative process and collaborative endeavors.
