Family tree software helps us track names, dates, and facts—but what about the deeper research that uncovers the world our ancestors lived in? For that, we need a more powerful knowledge manager. Zotero is a free, open-source tool used by scholars worldwide to collect, organize, and cite research materials. In this session, historian and genealogist Donna Cox Baker demonstrates how Zotero can help you manage your genealogical research—from sources and notes to to-do lists and collaboration.

Donna Cox Baker, Ph.D. (History), is an independent scholar who blends genealogy and history to tackle the toughest questions of the past. A Zotero user since graduate school nearly two decades ago, she is the author of multiple books and articles on genealogy, history, and research tools—including A Quick Guide to Zotero 7. She blogs and offers tools and videos at Genohistory.com. Baker retired from the University of Alabama, where she taught history and worked in historical publishing, to devote herself full-time to the emerging field of genohistory.
