8th Annual Post Wide Ride for Cancer

The last seven years have produced an annual event where Fort Rucker motorcycle riders across the post from the brigades, directorates and at large have supported through recognition those battling cancer. Year before last however, planners added a twist and not only do riders and the garrison chain of command recognize survivors, we recognized those losing their battle and presented to family left behind a memoriam certificate and more.

There are multiple stops on the ride, on post that allow folks to visit with riders and receive certificate, flower, bandana and wrist bracelet. If you are a current person battling cancer, a survivor or family member having lost someone, contact Ms. Monteka Freeman to get on it list by 9 October. Locations where riders will present are Silver Wings Golf Course, the School Agers Center, the Main Child Development Center, Lyster Army Health Clinic, Building 5700 and Howze Field.

Riders, please contact Sam Baker with names of projected riders to assist in planning for DPS traffic support and expectations for those individuals receiving recognition. Be ready to shake a hand or give a hug.
