Calling All Creative Stars Ages 9–17!
Do you love to act, perform, or bring stories to life? Are you ready to take the stage and share powerful history with the world?
"Legacy in Motion" is a traveling youth theater troupe created by the Lee County Black History Society in collaboration with Bridging The Gap Center For The Arts. We’re looking for vibrant, passionate young performers (No Experience Needed!) to join our next production! Over 3 months, you'll meet weekly to learn acting skills, build confidence, and collaborate with a cast of new friends to perform exciting, real-life stories from history.
✅Learn the fundamentals of acting
✅Memorize scripts based on real historical figures
✅Help create simple props and costumes
✅Practice public speaking and stage presence
✅Collaborate with peers in a fun, team-driven environment
✅Work alongside a history instructor to understand the context behind each performance
Each production is rooted in a chosen era or historical figure and designed to educate both the cast and the audience. The experience is hands-on, engaging, and deeply enriching.
The troupe’s debut performance will be held at the prestigious LCBHS Annual Prayer Breakfast on February 7, 2026, with additional performances throughout the year at schools, museums, community centers, and local events across Southwest Florida.
This program is fun, educational, and completely free to participate in. Whether you're a seasoned stage performer or new to acting we welcome you!
