Blessing of the Animals - October 5
You and your furry (or feathered, or scaly!) friends are warmly invited to join us for our Annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 5, at 4:30 p.m. on the front lawn of Pleasant Hill UMC. In the event of rain, we’ll gather in the Family Life Center gym.
The Blessing of the Animals is a tradition with deep roots in the church, often associated with the witness of St. Francis of Assisi, who celebrated all God’s creatures as part of God’s good creation.
Within the United Methodist Church, this service has become a meaningful way to give thanks for the companionship, joy, and love that animals bring into our lives. It’s also a moment to recognize the care and stewardship God entrusts to us as we look after these members of our extended families.
So, bring your pets—dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, fish (yes, in their bowls!), or even a favorite stuffed animal if that’s your “pet.” Each will receive a special blessing as a reminder of God’s love for all creation.
We look forward to wagging tails, gentle purrs, curious noses, and maybe even a few happy squawks. After all, sometimes the loudest “Amens” come with a bark!
