Lino Printing with Jocelyn Saucier

"Lino printing is a printmaking technique, a variant of relief printing in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for a relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed onto paper or fabric."

Jocelyn will provide a template for participants to carve into lino mounted on a wooden block, so they can learn the basics of carving and printing without having to figure out how to create a design in relief. Participants will create several prints in different colors from the same lino cut.

Registration for this program is required, and space is limited. This workshop costs $25 for both members and non-members and is due upon registration. If you must cancel your registration, we can only issue you a refund if we have at least 48 hours notice before the program begins.
