This month, join us for “Caring and Triage of Wild Birds” with Dr. Nolan Bunting, a veterinarian and wildlife specialist. Learn what to do if you encounter an injured bird and how to give it the best chance at recovery.

Event Summary:
As birdwatchers, we love supporting birds through conservation and education. But sometimes, we find ourselves face-to-face with an injured bird — whether from a cat bite, window strike, or fallen nest. In those moments, knowing what to do matters.
Dr. Nolan Bunting will guide us through the basics of wild bird triage: identifying common injuries, safe handling and transport, personal protective equipment, and ways to support the health and safety of local birds.
Dr. Bunting is a veterinarian with training in zoos, aquariums, and rehab centers, and holds advanced degrees in conservation and wildlife forensics. He also leads bird walks with NCBA, volunteers with emergency response teams, and even digs up dinosaurs in his spare time.
