An Evening with Elizabeth Lowham and C.K Miller
Join us at Old Firehouse Books as we welcome Elizabeth Lowham to celebrate the release of her latest YA novel, Sonnets and Serpents! Elizabeth will be in store October 16th from 6:00-7:00pm, and she will be joined by author C.K Miller to discuss writing and being authors. We highly encourage any young authors who are interested in writing to stop by and say hi! Books are available to purchase in store or online, but we do not ship internationally.

About Sonnets and Serpents:

Silas Bennett grew up in a kingdom where magic-users are persecuted, especially those with the rare ability to transform into animals. After discovering he could shapeshift into a serpent, Silas was nearly killed--only to escape to a neighboring kingdom where he could study and use his magic freely. Now, he is determined to become a professor at the university he calls home, even though he is only nineteen. But first he must distinguish himself in his research field by proving that legendary magic stealers exist.

Princess Eliza, a hopeless romantic inspired by sonnets and their promises of true love, refuses to believe her beloved Henry perished at sea. She will do whatever it takes to find him and bring him home--even if it means traveling to another country and asking for help from a shapeshifting outcast.

With Eliza's relentless optimism pitted against Silas's unyielding cynicism, the two enemies can't seem to have a civil conversation. But when they are unexpectedly bound by a pair of magical bracelets, which can only be unlocked by a kiss of true love, they quickly discover that they'll have to work together as they navigate different languages, their past prejudices and fears, and a blossoming relationship. When their search for the truth about magic stealers threatens both Silas's magic and Eliza's safety, the two must learn to be vulnerable and trust each other's hearts.

About Elizabeth Lowham:

Elizabeth Lowham dreams of a future house that is seventy-percent library with at least three lavish window seats. Her reality is five bookshelves and a rocking chair, which isn’t so bad. She is the author of Beauty Reborn, Astra Remade, and Casters and Crowns. In addition to reading and writing, her hobbies include sewing, sketching, dancing, eating, and other -ing verbs. Plus yoga. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and works as an author, editor, and screenwriter. She lives with her husband and son in the Loveland area of Colorado.

About C.K. Miller:

C.K. Miller grew up caught between two worlds—seven years in Germany left her feeling neither fully German nor American. When chronic illness began shadowing her teenage years, writing became her refuge and eventually her language.

What started as passing story notebooks with a friend grew into something transformative. A tiny blue agate necklace from her geologist father sparked the imagination that would become The Phoenix Host, launching the four-book Roanfire Saga.

Through health struggles, brutal pregnancies, and nine rejection letters, Miller's husband championed both her dreams and her healing journey. Finding the right doctor changed everything—learning to nourish her body properly became as transformative as any story she'd written.

Today, with all four books published, Miller is passionate about both storytelling and wellness, advocating for the self-care that literally saved her life.
