Another amazing turn out of volunteers at our last event and 45 bags of invasive weeds removed from our future planting site. We’ve made a huge step forward in bringing our native bushland space back to life that we’re going to change it up and go on a gladdy grab across the reserve!
The Pink Gladiolus (gladdy) is an attractive garden escapee (currently flowering and easy to spot, picture in the event). It is so invasive and common that it is mistaken as native to Perth, however, it originates from South Africa and takes real estate from our unique flora.
We are putting a call out again for likeminded community volunteers to join us (pending clear weather) outdoors and spend a couple of hours in nature, get our gloves dirty, have a chat, meet our community, and be the local champions for most gladdy’s removed!
Let’s finish what we started and give our degraded space the best chance to thrive!
