On Saturday, August 15th, Explore Farm to Fork by Train.

Travel by train to meet your rural neighbours on this unique Open Farm Days event. Explore small town farm life as it should be --by train! Alberta Open Farm Days theme for 2026 is Ranchlands and Pastoralists.

We will stop along the tracks to visit with local farmers, out in their fields, and learn about the crops they raise and the methods they use to provide food for your table. As we roll down the tracks, discover small town farm life, learn about crops grown in the area, and about the local wildlife, birds and flora from our expert guest on board! Enjoy locally grown snacks & beverages in the open-air gondola car.

To wrap up your day, we’ll take a tour of the Elevator Museum upon our return to Forestburg. Or if you wish, you can stop in at Many Horses Saloon for a drink from their train-themed drinks menu.

Guests must be able to walk in order to fully take part in this excursion

Itinerary for the Day:

Depart Forestburg 11:00 am, travel to Kelsey for farm equipment display at Cunninghams Farm Shop then back on the train for field walks along the way to Heisler; arrive in Heisler by 3:15 pm, Supper 3:30 pm;

Return trip: departs Heisler 5:30pm, arrive in Forestburg by 6:05 pm. Elevator tour to follow.
