michaela turcerová
with the in flux, copenhagen-based slovak saxophonist michaela turcerová explores the sonic universe of the solitary acoustic saxophone. through radical amplification setup, the saxophone’s hidden acoustic properties are exaggerated and reshaped into abstract forms that often seem to defy the instrument’s natural identity.
from distorted, percussive sequences, to rustling noise and hypnotic, subtle overtones, which could fit as a sound design for a surrealist animated movie.
in addition to her solo work, turcerová leads the octet doudouči ensemble and ensemble šum.um, and co-leads groups such as alawari, wolfskin ensemble, and the prague-based saxophone quartet mmmm.
she holds degrees in classical composition and classical saxophone from the academy of performing arts in banská bystrica and the rhythmic music conservatory in copenhagen.

maryia kamarova
maryia kamarova is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice is situated on the borders of performing arts, scenography, sound and installation art. she is interested in creating spatial settings that foster a sense of curiosity and attention toward everydayness.
by staging and repurposing commonplace objects and technology, kamarova’s works emphasize material agency and creative capacities of the nonhuman world. maryia approaches sound as a time-based medium, drawing inputs from collaborations with things, environments and other people.
she continuously develops autonomous electro-acoustic objects, assembling found materials with analogue electronics. taking on a role of facilitator, she then lets them temporarily inhabit the sites of performances and installations.
her work has been presented internationally at such festivals and venues as oscillation, archipel, rewire, reveil, sonic acts, lisboa soa, stuk among others.
