Hidden Tempo II is the 2nd hand-drumming performance by Daniel Wininger in which he plays original rhythms on the djembe, ashiko, and other percussion instruments in various styles and feels throughout the evening.
This time, Dan will be accompanied by none other than the great Tobey Sol LaRoche (SoLaR) for the second half of the show. Tobey hosts the backlined open mic at the Marigold in Easthampton, hosted another amazing open mic at the Würst Haus in Northampton, is in a plethora of bands, and is an impressive songwriter and musician. The Hidden Tempo is influenced by West African rhythm, Hip Hop, Latin percussion, Middle Eastern Rhythm, minimalism, shamanic trance music, electronic music, ASMR, "avant-garde," Nature, crickets, dogs, the wind, himself, and some kinda spirit. Dan's drumming is perpetually a call-and-response between different parts of the rhythm he creates, if not the rhythms around him. Dan has been drumming since he was 10.
