Dessine Moi Une Blave, a participative project by Jose Breval e Rachel Morellet

 "Imagination is more important than knowledge because knowledge is limited to all we know and understand as imagination embraces the entire world. Imagination is the only thing that can open our minds and our hearts to the possible; it is what gives us the power to invent.”

The project is entitled “Dessine moi une Blave (Draw a Blave for me)” in reference to The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The little prince asks the author to draw a sheep for him. As he did not know how to draw and the boy insisted the author drew a box which had become a symbol of imagination. The little prince was happy; the sheep was in the box.

“Years ago in the enchanting landscapes of the south of France a whimsical tale began to weave its way into the hearts and minds of those who dared to listen. In hushed tones I spoke of a mystical being that materializes under specific conditions - a creature known only as the "Blave." I illustrated rough shapes on the table depicting Blaves emerging from space the abyss or the vastness of the ocean. Cryptic words accompanied these drawings deepening the mystery. 

Time passed and Rachel Morellet a participant in that fateful evening took it upon herself to breathe life into the elusive Blave. She initiated the "Dessine-moi une Blave" project - a collective endeavor inviting contributions from anyone willing to share their interpretation of this enigmatic creature. The response was overwhelming.” 

This is how one of the initiators Jose Breval describes the birth of the project that has since developed visually and literally around the globe as an exercise of a shared imaginative collective creativity. Sharing our imagination increases our creativity in any field.

In the realm of art the Blave could become a muse for various creative endeavors. Artists might find inspiration in the diverse interpretations leading to exhibitions performances or even collaborative projects across different artistic disciplines. The Blave could transcend its fictional origins becoming a symbol of unity through artistic expression. 

Moreover the Blave might serve as a catalyst for storytelling and literature with writers crafting tales of Blaves exploring uncharted territories encountering mythical creatures or embarking on quests that mirror the collective human experience.

Project’s goals:

-The topic of the project is clearly imagination this cognitive horizon that is unique for humans and that gave origin to inventions creativity and art at some point in our existence.

-We believe that the language of art can further develop extend and amplify any cultural or scientific study. 

- We ask ourselves if it is possible to convey the creative power of imagination to the machines some of the blaves were created with AI and some not. In the era of AI we ask ourselves what the difference is between the verbs: to create (give existence) and to generate (to produce).

-We would like to push human minds and spirits towards creativity imagining new possibilities and scenarios that could also be useful in today’s society necessitating change and positive inputs.

-We believe in the power of imagination and creativity to bring effective positive changes. 

-We believe that imagination and creativity contribute to general and personal well-being.

-We believe that sharing moments of creativity and imagination helps with individual growth as well as with building a healthier society.

Dessine moi une blave

"L'immaginazione è più importante della conoscenza perché la conoscenza è limitata a tutto ciò che sappiamo e comprendiamo mentre l'immaginazione abbraccia il mondo intero. L'immaginazione è l'unica cosa che può aprire la nostra mente e il nostro cuore al possibile; è ciò che ci dà il potere di inventare."

A. Einstein

Il progetto si intitola "Dessine moi une Blave" (Disegnami una Blave) in riferimento a "Il Piccolo Principe" di Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Il piccolo principe chiede all'autore di disegnargli una pecora. Poiché non sapeva disegnare e il bambino insistette l'autore disegnò una scatola che era diventata il simbolo dell'immaginazione. Il piccolo principe era felice: la pecora era nella scatola.

“Anni fa negli incantevoli paesaggi del sud della Francia un racconto bizzarro cominciò a farsi strada nei cuori e nelle menti di coloro che osavano ascoltarlo. A bassa voce parlai di un essere mistico che si materializza in condizioni specifiche: una creatura conosciuta solo come "Blave". Disegnai forme approssimative sul tavolo raffigurando Blave che emergevano dallo spazio dagli abissi o dalla vastità dell'oceano. Parole enigmatiche accompagnavano questi disegni infittendo il mistero.

Il tempo passò e Rachel Morellet una partecipante a quella fatidica sera si prese la responsabilità di dare vita all'inafferrabile Blave. Iniziò il progetto "Dessine-moi une Blave" un'iniziativa collettiva che invitava chiunque fosse disposto a condividere la propria interpretazione di questa enigmatica creatura. La risposta fu travolgente.”

Così uno degli iniziatori José Breval descrive la nascita del progetto che da allora si è sviluppato visivamente e letteralmente in tutto il mondo come un esercizio di creatività collettiva immaginativa e condivisa. Condividere la nostra immaginazione accresce la nostra creatività in qualsiasi campo.

Nel mondo dell'arte la Blave potrebbe diventare una musa ispiratrice per diverse iniziative creative. Gli artisti potrebbero trovare ispirazione nelle diverse interpretazioni dando vita a mostre performance o persino a progetti collaborativi tra diverse discipline artistiche. La Blave potrebbe trascendere le sue origini fittizie diventando un simbolo di unità attraverso l'espressione artistica.

Inoltre la Blave potrebbe fungere da catalizzatore per la narrazione e la letteratura con scrittori che creano storie di Blave che esplorano territori inesplorati incontrano creature mitiche o intraprendono missioni che rispecchiano l'esperienza umana collettiva.

In definitiva "Dessine-moi une Blave" non ha semplicemente dato vita a una creatura: ha innescato un fenomeno culturale. " Blave un tempo un sussurro nel vento è cresciuta fino a diventare una creazione condivisa che trascende i confini dell'immaginazione invitandoci tutti a esplorare le meraviglie della creatività della collaborazione e delle infinite possibilità che si trovano nei regni dell'arte e della scienza." Obiettivi del progetto:

- Il tema del progetto è chiaramente l'immaginazione questo orizzonte cognitivo unico per gli esseri umani e che ha dato origine a invenzioni creatività e arte in un momento della nostra esistenza.

- Crediamo che il linguaggio dell'arte possa sviluppare ampliare e amplificare ulteriormente qualsiasi studio culturale o scientifico.

- Ci chiediamo se sia possibile trasmettere il potere creativo dell'immaginazione alle macchine: alcune delle opere sono state create con l'intelligenza artificiale altre no. Nell'era dell'intelligenza artificiale ci chiediamo qual è la differenza tra i verbi: creare (dare esistenza) e generare (produrre).

- Vorremmo spingere la mente e lo spirito umano verso la creatività immaginando nuove possibilità e scenari che potrebbero essere utili anche nella società odierna richiedendo cambiamenti e input positivi.

- Crediamo nel potere dell'immaginazione e della creatività per apportare cambiamenti positivi efficaci.

- Crediamo che l'immaginazione e la creatività contribuiscono al benessere generale e personale.

- Crediamo che condividere momenti di creatività e immaginazione contribuisca alla crescita individuale e alla costruzione di una società più sana.
