The United Way Witches Ride is a whimsical, family-friendly Halloween parade hosted annually in downtown Florence, Alabama to raise funds for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Participants dress as witches and ride decorated bicycles, golf carts, and floats along a festive route, tossing candy and spreading joy to cheering spectators.
What began as a fun community event has grown into a beloved local tradition with a powerful purpose: promoting early childhood literacy. All proceeds from the Witches Ride support monthly book deliveries to children from birth to age five, helping ensure that every child in our community has access to books and the opportunity to develop strong reading skills from an early age.
The parade is followed by a lively afterparty, with local restaurants and businesses joining in the celebration. Whether riding, volunteering, or simply watching the fun unfold, everyone plays a part in making this spooky, sparkly night a success for literacy in the Shoals.
The cost for each participant is $35 (which is the cost to sponsor one child for one year for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library), whether you choose to walk, ride a bike, or bring a golf cart! Each participant on a golf cart must pay a registration fee.
Sponsorships are also available! Join us for a fun night for a worthy cause!
