Get ready for an electrifying, all-star night of jazz and soul! World-renowned flutist Alexander Zonjic, Grammy-nominated keyboardist James Lloyd of Pieces of a Dream and soul legend Spyder Turner are joining forces on the Capitol Theater stage to support the next generation of musicians at Mott Community College (MCC).
This high-profile benefit concert, Swinging to the Holidays, is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Capitol Theater in downtown Flint. All proceeds will fund the vital MCC Music Fellowship Scholarship, a full-ride “last-dollar” scholarship that empowers talented students to pursue professional careers in music performance or teaching without the burden of tuition debt.
This year's concert will feature the professional headliners backed by the talented MCC Jazz Band, directed by Frank Yon, and a 30-member flute choir directed by Barb Ogar. This unique collaboration provides MCC students with essential performance experience alongside industry giants.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alexander Zonjic and his talented friends back to the Capitol Theatre for this essential fundraiser,” said Dr. Townes Osborn Miller, Professor of Music at MCC. “This concert is an incredible night of unforgettable music, but more importantly, it directly supports the Music Fellowship Scholarship, enabling our students to pursue their professional dreams.”
The Music Fellowship Scholarship is crucial for students pursuing the Associate in Fine Arts Degree-Music, preparing them to transfer to four-year institutions and conservatories.
The 2025 event is generously sponsored by L.A. Construction.
