The Hunterdon County Historical Society requests the honor of your presence at its exhibition celebrating weddings. The exhibition is open at the Doric House Museum on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. through September.
We are keeping the exhibition open for September because of several fascinating new additions that we can't wait for you to see, including a wedding gown worn on January 4, 1888 by Jennie Holland of Everittstown that is truly a wonder.
The exhibition, titled Love Unveiled — 250 Years of Saying ‘I Do!’, will showcase items in the society's collections related to matrimony. Visitors will get to view wedding dresses worn by Julia Fulper Craig in 1901, Amelia Finney Anderson in 1886 and Jane Carver Kitchin in 1947, among others. There will be wedding shoes and accessories, photographs, wedding invitations, a bridal scrapbook and marriage certificates.
The exhibition includes items a bridegroom may have worn, and another display features wedding gifts, a trousseau and honeymoon photographs. All exhibition items are part of the Hunterdon County Historical Society’s collections.
Docents will be on hand to lead visitors and answer questions.
