Join Ranger Cory for an extreme off-trail hike to Rocky Fork’s largest hidden waterfall, Firefly Falls, which plunges approximately 220 feet. This four-mile trek follows Rocky Fork Trail and Flint Creek Trail before leaving the path for a rugged one-mile creek walk. Expect two creek crossings each way, downed trees from Hurricane Helene, and challenging terrain that requires flexibility and endurance.
Along the way we will pass the abandoned fish hatchery, a glimpse into the park’s history, before venturing into areas normally closed to the public (off-trail hiking is not permitted in Tennessee State Parks, 11-1-108). This is a rare opportunity to experience a remote part of Rocky Fork under ranger guidance. You may get wet, so dress appropriately for cold conditions and bring water.
Our route may change based on group ability and trail conditions. In the event of inclement weather the program will be canceled for safety.
What to Bring: Closed-toe shoes, warm layers, water, and a sense of adventure.
