CPR Induced Consciousness: Managing Awareness in The Course of Resuscitation

This course explores the rare, but increasingly recognized phenomenon of CPR Induced Consciousness, when patients exhibit signs of awareness or purposeful movement during resuscitation. Participants will review current research, proposed mechanisms, and documented case studies, while learning to recognize, manage, and document CPRIC events in the field. Emphasis is placed on provider safety, maintaining high quality compressions, ethical considerations, and appropriate pharmacologic and mechanical interventions in accordance with current resuscitation guidelines.

Designed for EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics, this class blends clinical science with practical application to prepare providers for one of the most unexpected scenarios in cardiac arrest care.
