SOS Parent Night @ Silverland Middle School

Silverland Middle School is holding a SOS Parent night and explain the program that we will be implementing in the school.

We will have raffles for parents that participate in this event!
-Daycare will be provided by Boys & Girls Club free of charge!

The SOS Signs of Suicide® Prevention is a proven prevention program that addresses suicide risk and depression in middle and high school students, while reducing suicide attempts.

Our goals in participating in this program are straightforward:
To help students understand that depression is a treatable illness, and help them assess whether they may have symptoms consistent with depression.

To explain that suicide is a preventable tragedy that often occurs because of untreated depression.

To train students to identify serious signs of depression and potential suicidality in themselves or a friend.

To impress upon teens that they can help themselves - or a friend- by taking the simple step of talking to a responsible adult about their concerns.
