Join Avalanche City Roller Derby for our FINAL skating program for the 2025-2026 season!
The program will run on Fridays, starting January 9th to 30th, from 7:00-8:30pm at the Max Turyk Community Centre Gymnasium, in Fernie BC.
Over the course of our 4-weeks Intro To Derby program, along with some actual game play demonstrations by the team members, you will get the chance to learn about:
- The basic rules of roller derby
- To skate in close proximity to other skaters
- Basic derby-focused skills and drills
- About the track, how to skate on it, and the rules surrounding it!
Roller derby is a powerful sport. It provides a full body workout and can help improve your strength, balance, core stability, and cardiovascular endurance. It is a great way to get out, be active and learn about the amazing skating community! Good times and laughter GUARANTEED!
This event is open to female identifying people, ages 18 and up.
Nobody is too old or too unathletic to try - Everyone CAN learn to play Roller Derby!
Roller skates and pads rental are included in the program's registration fee of $85 (non-refundable). Just bring your own helmet!
Along with the registration fee, each person will require skater insurance of either $31.50 (four months) or $52.50 (one year) skater insurance.
!!! Insurance must be purchased before the first session in order for you to skate !!!
