Dateline 1906- Murder in the Valley- the Story of Hamp Kendall

On Sept. 20th (Daniel Boone and Scots in the Valley Festival-10-5:00) from 11-12:00 there will a program called "Dateline 1906- Murder in the Valley- the story of Hamp Kendall" that will be presented by Whippoorwill board member, David Baker in the Chapel of Peace (aptly named). There has been so much interest in this story, that we decided to share it even though it is hundreds of years away from Daniel Boone's time. However, Ferguson is the connection. Daniel Boone lived here and Hamp Kendall ended up living alone here on a mountain (in Wilkes) with his hound dogs and liquor still. This is a true and very sad story that happened in Caldwell County, NC. in 1906. This day will have many other activities. The cost is $10 a person, children five and under are free; parking is free. This is a 501-C-3 organization...non-profit. The event will begin at 10 a.m and go until 5:00 p.m.
