About the event

Ink, Press, Repeat! Beginners 4 week course in Lino Printing
Course starts: Thursday 4th September 2025 at 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm.

Ever wanted to carve, ink, and print your own stunning designs? Join us for four weeks of hands-on, inky fun as we dive into the world of linocut printmaking! Designed for total beginners, this workshop will guide you through the history, techniques, and creative possibilities of lino printing—no experience necessary!

What You’ll Learn
🖤 The origins of lino printing and why it’s still a powerful art form today.
đź–¤ How to design, carve, ink, and print your own lino block.
đź–¤ Techniques to layer, mix colours, and create multi-block and jigsaw prints.
đź–¤ How to embrace happy accidents and problem-solve like a pro!

Workshop Breakdown
🔹 Week 1 – Making Your First Impression
Get to grips with the basics! Learn about linocut history, how to transfer a design, carve safely, and pull your very first mono print—a one-of-a-kind print full of texture and personality.

🎨 Week 2 – Multi-Block Layering
It’s time to level up! We’ll explore how to carve multiple blocks and layer them together to create dynamic, multi-coloured prints. Learn how colours interact, overlap, and transform your work into something magical!

🧩 Week 3 – Jigsaw Printing
Think outside the block! This week, you’ll master the jigsaw technique, where multiple carved pieces fit together like a puzzle. Experiment with different colors, plan compositions, and discover how to create stunning, stitched-together prints.

✂️ Week 4 – Reduction Printing
The grand finale! Learn how to layer and reduce your block with each pass, carving away as you go to create depth and detail. This method requires a mix of planning and improvisation—perfect for embracing those unexpected (but often brilliant) surprises!
