This walk of 12 miles, starts from Perry Wood, which sits within the mid Kent Downs in an area of outstanding beauty, situated near the village of Selling in the Swale Borough.
Utilising paths marked on OS Explorer map 149, we set off to explore an area dotted with orchards, commencing through the ancient woodland to the Pulpit viewpoint at the Mount. Climbing a few steps to the viewpoint, gives us a great panorama of the landscape. From there, we then turn northwards, to eventually leave the woods, on our way to the heart of the tiny village of Selling.
Although arriving far too early for a pit stop at the White Lion, but don’t panic there is a pub stop later, we duly press on, passing St Mary- the- Virgin church, which dates to the 11th century. When reaching a road with the delightful name of Featherbed Lane, the the route changes direction towards Boughton under Blean, to cross the fairways of Boughton Golf Club and into Boughton Street.
Passing beside Mount Ephraim Gardens, the next landmark is the picturesque village of Hernhill, where situated is a church and close by the Red Lion pub. So, this appears to be the suitable point for our picnic lunch, followed by the tipple of your choice to wash it down.
The second half of the walk takes the group back in a southerly direction over open countryside and farmland, to eventually arrive back at Perry Wood. For those wishing further refreshment, the welcoming Rose & Crown, which a small gang of us visited previously on a group walk from King's Wood in October last year, is situated close by.

Starting point - The car park hidden in the woodlands, can be a bit confusing to find, if you are not familiar with the area. It is situated on Beeches Road, Selling near Faversham, so enter postcode ME13 9RP into your journey planner and you should land in the right spot!
