Jazz Night: 5 Piece Band

Two superb tenor saxophonists join us for our June Jazz Night - JO FOOKS and AL NICHOLLS. You can expect to hear great mainstream jazz and swing by this tight knit tenor sax team.

Born in Edinburgh Jo Fooks was named ‘Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year’ which led to her studying at the Guildhall School of Music and on to a scholarship at Berklee School of Music in the USA. From there she received an invitation from the legendary British trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton to join his band with whom she toured all over the UK performing in theatres concert halls and at festivals.

Tenor Saxophonist and composer/arranger Al Nicholls served his time in swing/jump-jive bands such as the legendary Big Town Playboys Ray Gelato’s Giants and King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys.

With his own band - Blue Harlem - he launched the career of International singing star Imelda May. Al is a favourite at many London venues including the world-famous Ronnie Scott’s The 100 Club Jitterbugs Soho’s Pizza-Express and The Blues Kitchen. A regular on the festival scene he has played at festivals from Norway to Dubai!

Legendary broadcaster Michael Parkinson said of Al  “... it’s happy music that makes you want to dance!” 

And we too are looking forward to a night of happy music by these great friends who have recorded an album together which included 'Bring Me Sunshine'.

Doors open at 7 pm with live music running from approximately 7.45 pm – 10 pm (with a 30 minute interval). 

Tables & Seating

All reservations/bookings are guaranteed a seat. Seating will be in a cabaret-style format with tables. Group bookings of 6 or more will be seated together wherever possible.

Parking

Parking is available at The Bush Hotel and the nearby Central Car Park.
