Ever wanted to do a FUN dog sport with your dog?
In this class we will teach you and your dog how to FIND odor and We will concentrate on the essential oils used in AKC Scent work (Birch, clove, anise , cypress)
This class is 5 weeks long , 1 hour a week on a Thursday (7pm -8pm ) you will be encouraged to practice small sessions at home on days other then class days .
I will provide:
Scent capsule with container with 4 essential oils in it to use in your training
Binder with weekly clear instructions on what you are doing that week .
AKC Scent Work Rule book printed out for those that might want to compete one day and earn titles and ribbons
Classes will consist of training on different courses during classes to fine tune skills and to reinforce finding odors.
We will mainly concentrate on Containers and Interior searches but if able will introduce buried and exterior (Car search ) weather permitting.
What you will need for class :
Hungry dog 😉 (feed dinner when you get back from class, dogs will work more productively if hungry )
High value food - boiled liver or chicken chunks, freeze dried liver, freeze dried salmon, etc
Regular crunchy cookies are not high value so they won’t be as excited to eat them while working.
Harness or collar (no tags)
8-10 foot leash
