About the event

Fur-Free Friday Demo & other ways to take action!
Hello Fellow Animal Advocates,

Please join us on Fur-Free Friday for a peaceful demonstration to educate folks about the horrors of the fur industry. The billions of animals tortured and killed each year for their fur desperately need our voice.

On November 28th, 12-2, we will be in front of Max Zeller Furs, 977 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. They are in the process of moving across the street to 977 Farmington Ave. By Fur-Free Friday they should be open there.

We will have lunch afterwards at a vegan friendly restaurant within walking distance!

***Signs and literature will be available, but feel free to bring your own signs.
***Bundle up!
***If interested in carpooling, either reply via email or text/call me at (413) 374-1921.
***Parking is available behind the store and on the street (fee)

TAKE ACTION:

A state bill banning the retail sale of new fur in MA was recently up for hearing - S. 551/H. 990: An Act prohibiting the sale of newly farmed fur products. Learn more about the bill and the fur industry at https://www.mspca.org/animal_protection/furbill/. Please urge your state legislators to support it! Find your legislators at https://malegislature.gov/Search/FindMyLegislator

Thanks to Fur-Free Massachusetts, there are now EIGHT MA towns that ban the retail sale of fur! Now let's ban it STATEWIDE!
-------------------------------
We must also complain to local businesses that carry real fur products! Post one-star reviews on their FB pages too, asking them to go fur-free. Fortunately, there are very few left in our area, but if you know of any, please let me know or post on this page!

Cedar Chest in Thornes Market, Northampton, has had hats with real fur poms. I'm not sure if they have them again this year, but please urge them to go fur-free - aW5mbyB8IGV4cGxvcmVjZWRhcmNoZXN0ICEgY29t.

Each year, approximately 50 million animals are raised in horrific conditions on fur farms around the world, which often have NO regulations, and killed for their pelts. This number does not include over a billion rabbits that are also killed each year (70 million alone in France).

We must inform the public about the true face of the cruel fur trade and about the millions of innocent fur-bearing animals, who live in torment on fur farms, going mad in filthy tiny wire cages and exposed to the elements or trapped in anguish until they die alone or are brutally killed and at times even skinned alive.
The global support and worldwide growing awareness about the true face of the fur trade has brought about many important victories, including ground-breaking anti-fur bills. In 2019 CA became the first state to ban the sale of new fur products. And TWENTY European counties have either banned or restricted fur farming! Also, India has phased out fur skin imports and São Paulo, Brazil has banned fur imports and sales. In 2021, Estonia passed a ban on fur farming and Israel banned the sale of fur in the fashion industry. In retail, Massachusetts-based TJX, as well as numerous top brands and retailers—including Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Canada Goose, Chanel, Coach, Neiman Marcus, Burberry, Versace, Donna Karan, Gucci, Michael Kors, and Armani—have announced fur-free policies. But we still have a long way to go in this country, so we must continue urging people to not buy real fur and pushing for fur bans! As one of our signs says..."real women fake it!"

Hope to see you there!

For the Animals,

Sheryl and Crysania
