International Book Group - Out of Darkness, Shining Light

The International Book Group at West Falmouth Library is a volunteer-led group that meets on the first Wednesday of each month 3:45-5pm. Selections have either foreign settings or foreign authors, usually both. New members are always welcome! Meetings are both in-person and on Zoom. Email Mary Harris for Zoom access.

The September 3rd selection is Out of Darkness, Shining Light by Petina Gappah.

“Engrossing, beautiful, and deeply imaginative” (Yaa Gyasi, author of Homegoing), this epic novel about the explorer David Livingstone and the extraordinary group of Africans who carry his body across impossible terrain “illuminates the agonies of colonialism and blind loyalty” (O, The Oprah Magazine).
