------*About Tara Vides*
Tara Vides began her dance journey at the age of eight, training primarily in ballet and jazz. As her passion grew, she expanded her repertoire to include contemporary, lyrical, poms, and cheer. Though initially shy about dancing in front of her family, a surprise performance at her quinceañera sparked a deep love for Latin dance—especially bachata and salsa. In high school, Tara founded a dance club where she and her peers choreographed original routines and performed at school events, eventually competing in the 2013 MCPS Latin Dance Competition. She continued her creative leadership into college, forming another student group that performed at campus events and fostered community through movement.
For Tara, dance has always been more than choreography—it’s a form of expression, healing, and empowerment. Whether it’s reclaiming confidence after a heartbreak, lifting spirits after a tough day, or energizing before a full to-do list, dance has remained her anchor and outlet. Teaching has added a deeper dimension to her journey. Every time she sees someone’s confidence rise or witnesses the joy of someone finding freedom in movement, she feels grateful to play a part in that transformation—even if only for a moment.
In 2019, Tara relocated to Virginia and began the search for a new dance home. Despite having followed Ferocity Dance Company for years, she kept an open mind, attending drop-in classes at various studios. One class at Ferocity was all it took—she immediately connected with the studio’s welcoming energy and the dedication of its director. Tara joined the Show Team in the summer of 2019, where she was introduced to foundational bachata technique and began growing as a performer. She later auditioned for the Amateur Competition Team and, eventually, the Semi-Pro Team, embracing each new challenge along the way. Teaching has added new meaning to her journey, allowing her to witness others step into their power and joy through movement. Each moment spent helping someone find their rhythm is, for her, a full-circle experience. Her journey from a shy child dancer to a confident performer and teacher is a testament to the transformative power of dance.
