Purpose:
A community fundraising event to create detailed Lord of the Rings–themed terrain for the Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game. All proceeds go toward building immersive boards for future gaming events and for general gaming at the venue. Participation tickets are priced at £5.
The event will run from Noon till 6pm.
Event Format:
Players will progress through four narrative scenarios, each set on a lovingly crafted board, with models and gaming accessories provided. These scenarios mirror iconic moments from Middle-earth’s history:
1. Attack at Weathertop – The Fellowship defends against the Nazgûl under the moonlight.
2. Balins Tomb – The Fellowship fight for their lives in the darkness of Moria.
3. Amon Hen – A desperate stand on the riverbank as the Fellowship is broken.
4. Escape from Goblin Town – A frantic race through twisted tunnels.
Community representatives will be available on the day to play through the scenarios if required but we actively encourage participants to bring their friends and play through scenarios together with assistance provided as necessary.
If you can’t give up your need for meta gaming mastery then challenge an opponent and track your games on the day for ultimate bragging rights. You can always take to the tables with your own armies afterwards as open play tables will still be available on the day.
To top things off, The Arena’s monthly quiz is the same evening (6pm till 8pm), and the theme is Lord of the Rings! Quiz tickets will be available on the day for £2 per player with teams of up to 6 people permitted.
