Our annual 5K is back to raise critical funds to support second chances for waterbirds in need. Join International Bird Rescue for our 8th annual Yes We PeliCAN! Virtual 5K Run/Walk. Whether you’re in California or across the globe, Bird Rescue supporters everywhere are invited to take part in this fun, active event!
HOW IT WORKS
From now until Race Week (September 1–7, 2025), participants are encouraged to fundraise and spread the word, then complete their 5K during Race Week in any way they choose: walking, jogging, biking, rowing, or even while birding, all in support of International Bird Rescue’s lifesaving work.
Last year, we had 88 participants across 14 states and 2 countries – let’s top that in 2025!
HOW TO JOIN
Getting started is easy:
1. Register on our RedPodium page and order your commemorative t-shirt here:

2. Sign up solo or with a team – the more the merrier!
3. Set up your fundraiser
Support the birds by creating a fundraiser through GroupRev, or start your own on Facebook or Instagram. Friendly competition encouraged – see if you can raise more than other teams!
4. Spread the word
Invite your friends, family, coworkers, or neighbors to join your team or support your efforts.
Race Week: September 1–7, 2025
Complete your 5K in whatever way works for you: walk in your neighborhood, hike a trail, ride your bike, skateboard, or even while birding! Wherever and however you race, you’ll be helping to spread awareness for International Bird Rescue and the bird species we care for.
WHY IT MATTERS
Every dollar raised goes directly toward the care of pelicans and other waterbirds at our wildlife centers. This year’s fundraising goal: $35,000
