Experience the thrill of nature after dark at the Fugate Woods Nature Preserve! Join the University of Illinois Extension Master Naturalists, in collaboration with the Prairie Lands Foundation, for an evening filled with wonder, wildlife, and warm campfire vibes.
🦉 Discover the Creatures of the Night
As the sun sets and the woods come alive, explore the fascinating world of nocturnal animals—owls, crickets, moths, raccoons, opossums, and skunks (yes, we’ll share tips on how to avoid them!). You’ll even learn how to calculate the temperature by counting cricket chirps and try your hand at “mothing,” a unique way to observe moths up close as they’re drawn to light in the dark forest.
🔥 Campfire Fun & Tasty Treats
After the adventure, gather around the fire to roast hot dogs and make delicious s’mores. Share stories, ask questions, and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the woods at night.
🌟 Perfect for families, nature lovers, and curious minds of all ages!
