Special Screening: Shaaghan Neekwąįį/Two Old Women

We are excited and honored to invite you to a special screening of “Two Old Women,” a short narrative film based on the Traditional story and best-selling novel by Velma Wallis. This short film is entirely in Dinjii Zhuu K'yaa (the Gwich’in language) and is written and directed by Princess Daazhraii Jonson.

The compelling story of two Elder Gwich’in women who find themselves abandoned by their Tribe during famine teaches us that survival is worth the fight. Two Old Women is produced by Jason Ryle, Taa''aii Chigiionta, and Heather Rae. Brenda Kay Newman stars as Ch'idzigyaak and Margaret Henry is Sa’, with a special appearance by Chief Galen Gilbert of Vashraii K’oo. Two Old Women is a masterpiece in storytelling, and we are very proud to bring it to the big screen.

We will also be showing a bonus feature, Diiyeghan naii T'aii Treedaa, "We Will Walk the Path of our Ancestors." Join us at this special cultural event, and bring your friends and family!
