Join NSB for a Contemporary/Modern Masterclass with guest choreographer Nikaio Bulan Sahar Thomashow! Nikaio is returning to Fairbanks to choreograph a new work for North Star Ballet's October performance, "Sound Meets Movement."
Nikaio Bulan Sahar Thomashow (they/he) is a mixed Jewish and Filipino-American dancer, composer, choreographer, and educator originally from the Adirondacks in Northern NY. Nikaio graduated from Oberlin College in 2018 with a degree in dance. They have worked with companies such as Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (Montréal), Daloy Dance Company (Philippines), and EMERGE125 (NYC). They are currently a teaching artist for the Misty Copeland Foundation as part of the inaugural cohort for BE BOLD, as well as the director of KAŌS Dance Collective. Nikaio and KAŌS have presented works for organizations such as NYS DanceForce and Movement Research at the Judson Memorial Church, and have held residency at TOPAZ ARTS and Green Space.
Masterclass Details:
When: October 12, 10:30 - Noon
Where: North Star Ballet Studios, 1755 Westwood Way
Who: Any dancer age 12 or older (or NSB students level B2 and up) with at least two years dance experience
Investment: Free for NSB Junior, Apprentice, or Senior Company Members, $15 for non-company NSB students and community members
