The holiday season is upon us! Set some time aside before a day of hustle and bustle and join us for a morning of cozy refreshments and book-swapping fun! 📚
Saturday, December 13th, the Literacy Council of Alaska will be hosting our first Used Book White Elephant fundraiser! We’ll gather at the Literacy Council’s new location for an exciting literary take on a classic holiday game. Each participant will bring a wrapped, used book of their choosing and will leave with a new read to wind down from the holiday hubbub with. If you can’t part with a beloved book off of your own bookshelf, we encourage you to swing by Forget-Me-Not Books to pick one up!
Doors will open at 9am for refreshments, and if you’re unable to wrap your books ahead of time, LCA staff and volunteers will be on hand to help. Wrapping offered for a $5 suggested donation to support LCA! The games will start right at 10am. There will be raffle giveaways, too!
We will have one game for 10- to 15-year-olds, and one for 16-year-olds and up. Use the link above to reserve your spot! 🎟Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the event. We will also have Forget-Me-Not Books merchandise and gift cards available for purchase to help you finish up your gift shopping!
Come have fun with us, make a new friend, find a new read, and support the Literacy Council of Alaska! Our Adult Education students and Pathways participants are working hard on pursuing their education and career goals, and every ticket sold helps them get closer to succeeding!
Please note: This is a family-friendly event, so please select your used book contribution with that in mind! Please no suggestive or divisive themes. Also, this event is for 10-year-olds and up–please leave younger kiddos at home to ensure all participants have the same great fun!
