February is right around the corner, and with it comes our First Friday!
Pull out your calendars and mark Friday, February 6, from 5–8 PM at Northern Whimsy Studio.
This month’s theme is Treat Yourself, and we truly mean it. We have so much to offer!
Lucky Locks is going to be here, and you can treat yourself to beautiful silk strands, carefully tied into your hair for a little extra sparkle and fun.
We will also have the most delicious cookies, and cake pops from Gluten Free Frontier available for purchase. Trust us, they’re incredible. You can share them… but we won’t tell anyone if you eat yours in secret. They are that good.
This month we’re excited to feature a wonderful Junior Artist, Charlotte from Llama Farm Handmade. Her adorable llama creations are as cute as they sound.
Our second featured artist is the wonderful Lacey Miller. Lacey Miller is a lifelong Alaskan artist whose work reflects a deep reverence for both art and nature as healing forces. Rooted in the landscapes and rhythms of the North, her creative practice is a meditation on the connection between people, materials, and place. Working primarily in acrylic and watercolor, Miller embraces all mediums with equal curiosity, finding meaning in both success and failure. For her, the process itself is a form of discovery, an ongoing dialogue between inner experience and the world around her.
On Friday, you'll get to experience a few new paintings and a small sculpture series she calls Love Birds. In addition, she will have new jewelry pieces from discarded silverware. A bit of it all!
And of course, there’s more! Enjoy tasty snacks, plenty of drop-in art projects, and live music throughout the evening. We’re thrilled to welcome Annie and Jeff from The Lodge at Black Rapids, who will be joining us for a special live performance.
As you can see, this is a well-rounded, feel-good evening full of creativity, treats, music, and community, and one you won’t want to miss.
