A POWERFUL DOCUMENTARY: 20 YEARS IN THE MAKING
Organ transplant tourism has been on the rise globally, yet behind the promise of life-saving procedures lies a disturbing and largely underreported reality. China has become the leading destination for transplant tourism. The majority of organs are forcibly harvested from prisoners of conscience, including individuals subjected to unspeakable cruelty.
Masterfully directed by Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Raymond Zhang and accompanied by an evocative score from Emmy Award-winning composer Daryl Bennett, State Organs has garnered 40 international awards and was an official contender for Best Documentary Feature at the 97th Academy Awards. Based on true events, the film chronicles the heart-wrenching journeys of two families as they relentlessly searched for their loved ones who mysteriously disappeared while in police custody. Their pursuit of truth uncovered a systemic, state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting operation—one that continues to this day.
