Iz White is an enrolled member of the Snoqualmie Tribe and has been writing poetry since 1996. His work blends confessional elements with social justice themes and the rhythmic, lyrical qualities of rap. Growing up homeless in Seattle, Iz learned to thrive in the city’s diverse environment. Thanks to tribal economic growth, he now enjoys financial stability, allowing him to focus on advocacy. Through his gritty storytelling, Iz White raises awareness, evokes empathy, and drives social change, humanizing homelessness while highlighting modern Indigenous identity.

Shelley Wiart (Weert) Biography

Shelley Wiart (she/her) is a proud member of the North Slave Métis Alliance located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. She currently resides on Treaty 7 territory in Calgary, Alberta. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (with Great Distinction) from Athabasca University and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Leadership at Royal Roads University, with an expected completion in March 2026. Her graduate research, An Indigenous Exploration of Arts-based Reconciliation Education, focuses on using art, storytelling, and ethical space to advance reconciliation in education.
