So Kids SOAR Digital Poetry Slam with Jr. NBA Coach Ari Emanuel-Wright!

Join So Kids SOAR (SKS) and Women's Basketball Star Ari Emanuel-Wright for a collaborative & creative poetry writing session. Come experience the fun, expressive, cathartic, and mindful process of poem writing. This is our second virtual poetry writing session and we are excited to have such an incredible young leader guiding us through this workshop.

What: So Kids SOAR has set up a virtual poetry writing clinics for individuals aged 13 - 30 with physical and developmental disabilities. This clinic will focus on expressing one’s thoughts on paper. Participants will have the opportunity to share their writing skills creatively – poetry is about being able to communicate in a way that best represents who you are and what you are feeling currently or from a past time. This workshop will include the following activities: Word Play, Rhyme, 6 Word Pyramid, One Word Theme, and Open Poem Sharing.

When: Saturday, October 11th, 2025 from 1 - 2PM EST

Where: Online via Zoom (You will receive the zoom conference link a few days before the clinic)

Who: Calling all writers, poets, and creatives (or anyone who wants to express themself through poetry). Participants with physical and developmental disabilities of all ages are welcome!

So Kids SOAR programs are 100% free and give children with disabilities to sports and other activities, helping them realize their full potential to succeed in all walks of life.

About Ari Emanuel-Wright: Arianna (Ari) Emanuel-Wright is originally from the sunny state of Jacksonville, Florida where she grew up playing many sports. In 5th grade, she decided to pursue basketball and it worked out marvelously. Ari was a Varsity starter as a Freshman on her high school team, received two basketball scholarships at the Junior College and Division-1 levels, and played professionally for the Women’s American Basketball Association, FIBA, and the AEBL in Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to sports, Ari’s family made it priority for her to instill the value of education - because no one can take away what you have learned. She earned an Associate of Arts degree in Exercise Science from Sante Fe College, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (with a minor in Creative writing) from the University of North Florida, and a Master of Science in Career Counseling from Florida State University.

Únete a So Kids SOAR (SKS) y a la estrella del baloncesto femenino Ari Emanuel-Wright para una sesión colaborativa y creativa de escritura poética. Ven a experimentar el divertido, expresivo, catártico y consciente proceso de escribir poemas. Esta es nuestra segunda sesión virtual de escritura poética y estamos muy emocionados de contar con una joven líder tan increíble que nos guiará a través de este taller.

Qué: So Kids SOAR ha organizado clínicas virtuales de escritura poética para personas de 13 a 30 años con discapacidades físicas y del desarrollo. Esta clínica se centrará en expresar los pensamientos en el papel. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de compartir sus habilidades de escritura de manera creativa – la poesía consiste en comunicar de la manera que mejor represente quién eres y lo que sientes, ya sea ahora o en el pasado. Este taller incluirá las siguientes actividades: Juego de Palabras, Rimas, Pirámide de 6 Palabras, Tema de Una Palabra y Compartir Poemas Abiertos.

Sobre Ari Emanuel-Wright: Arianna (Ari) Emanuel-Wright es originaria de la soleada ciudad de Jacksonville, Florida, donde creció practicando muchos deportes. En quinto grado decidió dedicarse al baloncesto, ¡y fue una excelente decisión! Ari fue titular del equipo universitario desde primer año de secundaria, recibió dos becas de baloncesto a nivel universitario (Junior College y División 1), y jugó profesionalmente en la Women’s American Basketball Association, FIBA y la AEBL en Atlanta, Georgia.

Además del deporte, la familia de Ari le inculcó el valor de la educación – porque nadie puede quitarte lo que aprendes. Obtuvo un Asociado en Artes en Ciencias del Ejercicio de Sante Fe College, una Licenciatura en Psicología (con una subespecialización en Escritura Creativa) de la Universidad del Norte de Florida, y una Maestría en Consejería de Carrera de la Universidad Estatal de Florida.
