Join us for a special presentation from Miles Evans, Sr. Team Leader from Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)'s Energy Storage and Distributed Energy Resources Program.

Mr. Evans will be presenting EPRI team's work on Phase 2 for Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) project: "A Study to Prepare DoD Installations for Electric Flightline Vehicles and Equipment", the second phase of a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.

The focus of the presentation will be on air force flightline electrification in the broader context of electrification and energy resilience. Continuously running diesel engines in flightline vehicles and mission support equipment are inefficient and harmful to both the maintainers and the environment. Electric options, powered from the grid or on-board batteries can address these issues but pose a potential issue of their own - what happens when grid electricity is not available. This project pairs electric vehicles and equipment with a resilient solar plus storage power supply that supplements grid electricity and can keep the equipment operating during extended grid outages.
