About the event

February half-term: Cupid's Quest
Join us for Cupid's Quest - Follow the trail inspired by Cupid around the gardens, find the hidden cherubs around the Hall, and take part in the Cupid Crafts in the Long Gallery.

There are many Greek gods and goddesses painted on the famous James Thornhill wall paintings at Hanbury Hall. One of those is Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. In Greek mythology, her son was believed to be Eros, the Greek god of love. The Romans later adopted this Greek god of love for their own worship, but renamed him…Cupid!

Cupid is often portrayed as a winged cherub, carrying a bow and quiver. In the quiver would be arrows that Cupid could fire to inspire love or passion in his targets. So this year for February half-term, pick up a trail booklet and complete the activities around the gardens inspired by cupid and the cherubs. Then head to the Long Gallery with your trail booklet to complete the Cupid inspired crafts.

Saturday 14 February – Sunday 22 February, 10am-4pm (last entry to the crafts is 3.30pm). £2 per booklet (please note: you must purchase the booklet to be able to take part in the crafts), no booking needed.
