Chef Skills Camps for students in Year 9 to 11

Year 9 to 11

The Chef Skills Camp is a two-day holiday workshop for students in years 9, 10 & 11 who have a keen interest in food and cooking, to learn & develop their skills in a real working professional kitchen.

They will leave with new skills, increased confidence in the kitchen and a better understanding of what they eat.

The students will prepare and cook some exciting dishes, gain an appreciation for food and an understanding of this area of the hospitality sector.

Day One - 9.30am to 3pm

• Introduction to the course and kitchen environment

• Cooking up a storm learning new recipes & developing skills

Day Two - 9.30am to 3pm

• Start the day with a delicious breakfast

• Prepare lunch and cook up some tasty treats to take home

• Take part in a Ready, Steady, Cook challenge with guest judges

The students will be eating what they make on the day so will not require a lunch. Breakfast will be included on day 2.

Sessions will be delivered by qualified teaching staff from Highlands College and supported by staff from Skills Jersey (part of the Children, Young People, Education and Skills Department).

• A parent or guardian name and telephone number must be provided
• If a child is not being collected by a parent or guardian, we must have approved permission in advance.
• If your child has specific dietary requirements, please fill this out on the confirmation page.
• Please make sure your child wears sensible/appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes.
• If there is anything the tutors need to be aware of, please ensure this is passed on prior to the event.
• Please note: Any children showing symptoms of illness must not attend and should follow the appropriate health guidance.
• *IMPORTANT* On arrival, a parent or guardian must be present and must have a printed or digital version of the ticket or you child will not be able to take part.
