Locations:
On behalf of Arlington County Government and Arlington Public Schools (APS), you are invited to observe the upcoming 2026 Active Violence Incident (AVI) Response and Reunification Exercise.
This large-scale, full-participation exercise will provide an opportunity for APS staff and County personnel to test emergency response plans, communications, and coordination during an active violence incident in a school setting. The exercise will also validate reunification and crisis communication procedures between County departments, APS, and emergency services.
Due to limited capacity, each department or agency will be allocated six (6) observer tickets for the event. Observers are asked to indicate whether they wish to observe only the Active Violence Incident Response, only the Reunification Operations, or both. Those choosing to observe both portions may depart from Carlin Springs Elementary School after Iteration 1 concludes and proceed to Wakefield High School to observe the Reunification Operations.
Additional exercise information, logistics, and a detailed schedule will be shared with confirmed observers as planning is finalized.
