Join us for a CLIMATE DAY - Saturday, 27th September 2025!
As part of the Highland & Islands Climate Hub's Climate Festival 2025, come along to the Learning Centre for a day of activities!
**Woodworking with Graham - make a planter for outdoors, or a seed-saving box for future use! Both activities will be using reclaimed wood. Ages 14+
**Hear what our tutor Maddy has to say about sustainable growing in the Highlands; then why not stay for a chat with her? She can also advise on how to forage, make syrups, cordials, and fermented products!
**Send the wee ones over to paint some plant pots and make bug hotels with the LC staff.
**A buffet lunch will be available from 12.30pm.
Have excess veg this year? Why not bring along some seeds or plants with you to swap?
Some activities may be outdoors, please make sure you have/your child has suitable clothing for the weather.
The majority of activities are FREE during the day & will run from 11am to 3pm; however, the woodworking sessions begin/end outside these times:
*Make Your Own Planter: 9.30am-12.30pm - make an outdoor planter for your vegetables or flowers. This 3-hour session is perfect for beginners. For ages 14 years +. £10.
*Make Your Own Seed-saving Box: 1.30pm-3.30pm - make a seed-saving box with lid to store your flower or vegetable seeds in over winter. This 2-hour session is perfect for beginners; the wood will be pre-cut in advance due to time constraints. For ages 14 years +. £5.
Enjoy these classes at a discount—they're priced lower than our usual courses!
