On Thursday, August 22, join Bookends & Beginnings for an evening of literature without borders in honor of , a global celebration of women authors whose voices reach us through the art of translation. This open mic invites readers to share translated work by women—poems, stories, and passages that have crossed linguistic and cultural thresholds to resonate in a new tongue.
Bring a piece you love, translated from any language into English—or vice versa—and give voice to the powerful, intimate, and expansive work of women writing from around the world. Readings may be in either the original language, the translation, or both. All languages are welcome.
Whether you’re a reader, a translator, a listener, or simply a lover of literature, come join us in honoring the words that carry women’s voices across time, place, and language.
Free and open to all, but registration is preferred. Readers will sign up at the door. Happy Hour with select cocktails on special for $6 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and readings from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
